During a recent “all hands” company meeting, Musk outlined the company’s strategy to boost their launch frequency, aiming for a turnaround rate under 24 hours by the end of the year. “[…] We are aiming for maybe as much as 150 flights this year,” he said. While details on the infrastructure improvements required remain undisclosed, Musk emphasized the need to double the launch qualifications for their Falcon first-stage booster fleet.
SpaceX’s plans include pushing the limits of reusable rocket technology. Musk revealed their intention to qualify Falcon 9 for an astounding 40 flights, showcasing the company’s commitment to cost-effective space exploration. This comes after successfully completing the 19th re-flight of a Falcon 9 booster. “We’ve done a 19th re-flight. We’re now qualifying Falcon 9 to be able to do 40 flights,” Musk said.
As of today, SpaceX’s has performed 302 missions, recovered orbital-class rockets 266 times, and reused previously-flown Falcon 9 boosters in its fleet 237 times.
Moreover, SpaceX has not only focused on rocket stages but also on fairing recovery.
