Tesla plans to build a retro-futuristic diner in Starbase, Texas, a move aimed at integrating entertainment and convenience into its expanding network of Supercharger stations. This development follows a social media exchange between Tesla CEO/SpaceX founder Elon Musk and Cosmic Chronicles journalist Evelyn Janeidy Arevalo, who suggested the idea to which Musk responded affirmatively. “If our retro-futuristic diner turns out well, which I think it will, Tesla will establish these in major cities around the world, as well as at Supercharger sites on long distance routes. An island of good food, good vibes & entertainment, all while Supercharging!” wrote Musk in an 𝕏 post. “Pls [please] make one in Starbase!! I’ve always wanted to go to a retro car movie theater!” she commented —”Ok,” responded Musk.

The diner, inspired by 50’s-style American architecture with a futuristic twist, will be located near SpaceX facilities in Starbase, a region central to the company’s Starship development efforts. The project is part of Tesla’s broader strategy to establish such diners in major cities and along long-distance routes, offering “an island of good food, good vibes, and entertainment” while the electric vehicles charge.
Tesla inaugurated it’s first Supercharger diner in Hollywood, California, today. “Try it out. Aiming to be a fun experience for all, whether Tesla owners or not. Will keep improving,” said Musk on July 21. The diner featuring large outdoor screens for drive-in movie viewings, a rooftop seating area, and a design that blends nostalgia with cutting-edge technology. There’s even Tesla Optimus robots serving popcorn to customers, as well as waitresses in rollerskates like the good ol’ days.

The Starbase Tesla diner will not only serve as a rest stop for Tesla car owners but also as a community hub, potentially attracting visitors interested in SpaceX’s Starship operations.
Tesla’s expansion into dining and entertainment reflects the company’s approach to create comprehensive ecosystems that support not just charging but also leisure and social interaction.
